I have never been a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. It has always seem kind of silly to me. A whole day dedicated to showing how much you love someone. It seemed kind of forced, sometimes fake. Then I began to look at the day a little different and my perspective changed. I love the day so much I created a FREE Valentine’s Day printable to share with you.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
I love to celebrate love. I love my husband. I love my children. I love my family. I love my friends. I love them all very much, as much as I am capable of loving them. I can almost say my love for them is a great love, but it is not the greatest love. The greatest of loves is nothing that we can show or demonstrate to another person, the greatest of loves is uniquely ours, a gift given to us from the only one capable of possessing it.
The word Love appears 551 times in the NIV Bible. Along with other words that describe his affection for us, there is no reason we should ever doubt how He feels about us. God’s love for us is the greatest of loves.
We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19. His love for us is why we love.
God’s promises to love us, His commands to us to love one another and to love Him are present throughout the Bible. This is the type of love I want my children to know. God’s love for them is the love I want them to feel. The type of love God shows us is what I want them to demonstrate to others.
Not to my surprise, I was unable to find scripture about love printed alongside any Disney or Marvel character’s Valentine’s Day cards at Target. I decided to create my own Valentine’s Day cards this year and I am excited to share them with you. I hope you don’t mind that they are not red or pink, I couldn’t sell red or pink to my 1st grade son. I do really like the color scheme, the graphic but especially the message of each.
God’s words of love are truth, they are constant, they are faithful, they are for you, they are for everyone.
I invite you to download and print out these free Valentine’s day cards and share them with others and have your children share them with their friends and classmates. The message on each may be simple but it is life saving.
