Welcome to A Life Surrendered! I’m so happy you’re here!
If you’re looking for tips to help your family thrive, encouragement in your faith, and reasons to just laugh at life, you’re in the right place. I can’t make it through my days without all three, and I’m guessing you can’t, either.
Wondering what I write about? Check out some of my most popular blog posts below. (Or keep reading to learn more about the woman behind A Life Surrendered.)
Hi! I’m Rachel Shewmaker, Mom, Wife, and Virtual Assistant to business coaches, bloggers and event managers. I started this blog as an outlet for my stories and personal experiences. I wanted to catalogue my struggles as a mom and a Christian woman, so I began writing and publishing them online.
Through my blog, I’ve been able to help other parents navigate the tough times that naturally come when you have kids. I’ve also been blessed to share my faith with my readers. My faith is a crucial part of my life, and it’s something that I love sharing with others.
Meet the Shewmakers
I met Nick one year after I graduated high school. Four years later, we got married and never looked back. I know without a doubt that my husband is an answer to a prayer I didn’t even know I had.
It was my husband who introduced me to Christ, and that relationship has transformed my life.
Nick and I have three wonderful and incredibly different children, two boys and one girl. Our oldest son is adopted, so much of what I learned about trust, faith, and hope I learned through him. It’s remarkable how much our children can teach us if we just take the time to listen.
When my husband and I had our second son and first daughter, we discovered what all parents with more than one child know – your children are distinct individuals with their own personalities, likes, dislikes, and opinions.
Despite the seasons of challenge (and there have been some), I love being a mom. We’re a busy family. Any night of the week you might find us at sports practices or games, youth groups, bible studies, church choir practice, and hanging out with friends.
All of that running around is sometimes too much for me. I’m an introvert by nature, so I love that blogging gives me a platform to connect with so many people without feeling overwhelmed and drained.
I struggle against the forces of this world daily, and I often lose the battle. Praise be to God that His mercies are new every morning. Join me on this journey as I learn, love, laugh, and share what God is doing in my family and the lessons He’s constantly teaching me.
